Some House Stuff and a Birthday.. Typical Monday!

Good Evening All!

I hope you all had a great weekend! I didn't plan on being around here this weekend and truth be told I could have yesterday but I was exhausted! I have been meaning to come around and show you some updated pictures of the house, and all the other list of things I have going of what I want to post about but my motivation and time has been limited.

I have been waiting for days, specifically since last Wednesday for all the people who should be coming into our house to fix all the things that are wrong with it and so far nothing. We agreed upon a completion date of this Wednesday assuming we would have people in the house the next day to start and naturally we never heard from anyone and no one has been here as of today and I have officially exceeded my tolerance limited and plan to rhyme off an email tomorrow that will make head spins! I officially hate every one of these incompetent tool bags for ruining our first home buying experience and wish they would get their shit semi together and do their fucking jobs! Period. NEVER EVER BUY A KB HOME!!!

In the meantime I thought I would share some pictures of the house, as things have come together a little more and I did share these pictures with other people and then I thought.. HEY! there are other people who would like to see these! So I apologize in advance for photo overload.

I am more in love with this coffee table everyday! I love the rustic warm look, I couldn't be any happier with this purchase!

Living room thus far, we are debating an area rug but the floors are so great we just can't decide. You can see there are temporary curtains hanging in the dining room over the sliding glass doors until we can find curtains we absolutely love. The whole house has Hunter Douglas blinds but that door so its not a huge issue and we decided not to settle but hold out for something that we instantly fall in love with!

Dining room with our fabulous dining room table. If you remember back we were having a wicked time finding a dining room table. We were set on a pub table and having no luck finding one until we came across this one online. I was unnerved about buying something we couldn't see but we were desperate. I called to order it and they said that they couldn't get it in until January.. so I continued to call around. I managed to find a licensed Liberty Furniture dealer who had it to us at the end of October and it was cheaper! Score!

We are making progress, slowly but surely! We haven't managed to get any art on the wall sadly, to me that always makes a house feel like a home but we are working on it. Tonight we are planning to pick a few wedding pictures to have printed and then we will get frames and are thinking we would like to put them in the stairway. There is a certain picture I would like to have for the bedroom but I feel like I cant make a decision until I know about curtains (ridiculous I know) but we will probably get pictures before curtains at this point so we'll see! 

This past weekend the Seavey's came up for a sleepover! It was quite an interesting weekend to say the least haha! We had a great time none the less! Saturday night Brianne carried Amelia's pack-n-play upstairs and I took the little lady to get her set up for bed! When we got up there Jason had every window in the damn house open and although it was a gorgeous day the nights have been quite chilly here. I put lady A down on the carpet for a minute while I shut some windows and she was a little perplexed! I hadn't given much thought to the fact that they don't have carpet at their house and she had never seen it! I'm not sure she knew what to think of it, check out her expressions! They were hilarious!

This was hilarious.. she would get her face so close to the carpet and then pop up with the most hilarious smile like she had found gold! It was amazing!

So that was really my weekend. Yesterday while Jason was hungover all day I cleaned and relaxed! Watched football and did laundry. I bombed in the pool this week but am hoping Jason wins as today is his birthday. 

When things like birthdays roll around and I count how many we have spent together silly I know but I get butterflies. I look forward to all these events we share together and looking back on them fondly! I try hard to make every moment of them special, especially birthdays because they were always made special for me. 

Today I wish the love of my life the happiest of birthdays, I am grateful to be apart of every birthday and hope you feel as special today and everyday as you make me feel! You only get better with age babe, be proud of it! I love you more than words! XO

Ps - I'm sorry you had to rake the lawn today, but you did a fabulous job! ;)

On a side note before I take off, I was pretty busy on my own birthday this year and then I departed the next day for a week and to say things have been hectic since we've been back is an understatement.. so I haven't posted a picture of the FABULOUS birthday present Jason got me. I am so in love, I pout every time we leave the house and I have to take them off! BEST GIFT EVER!

UGG slippers! SCORE! My feet actually need these right now as they are COVERED in blisters.. literally... bad ones. For some reason in the last week if I can burn it, blister it, break it, etc I have done so. I am quite a wreck, no kidding. 

Speaking of that, I do a lot of apologizing around these parts for not blogging and it really does come from a genuine apologetic place but that is a little broader in that I haven't been much for the phone or being on top of responding to letters, emails, etc. I don't really have a defense besides being busy which I generally think is a shitty excuse. I am really trying to take advantage of down time and just read, have a bath, do things that help me relax because I have been overwhelmed, so cut me so slack.. I really do care. I swear. 

Alright I am going to bed, we have a Time Warner tech coming tomorrow because our TV is F'ed and Jason called about it tonight and they don't know. Nothing ever works, I kid you not. 

North Carolina State Fair

Happy Friday all! Hope everyone had a great Halloween last night!

We weren't sure how many kids we would get on account that we've never lived here before and haven't spent enough time here to scope out the neighborhood and get a feel for how many kids actually live around here. We had about 25 kids come to the door which I thought was good, probably about what I expected. Truth be told though I was a little shocked about how Halloween takes place for kids today compared to when I was a kid. If you went out, you dressed up... do you know how many kids came to our door that were not dressed up.. LITTLE KIDS!! What is the point in going out for Halloween in a Hollister sweater and a pair of jeans? Your 8, get in the spirit! Not only was there a huge lack of costumes but parents drive their kids around? Since when? We usually had a wagon full of my Dad's loot from his friends as we walked around, there were no mode of transportation!! I can understand for little ones who are just going to their grandparents and such but when you're 8 years old, you walk your ass and work for your candy!!! Oh today's generation, so lazy!

Anyways I am still on catch up mode in regards to all the time I missed while life was hectic and crazy! I am almost there though and then we can move on to bigger and better things. As you know if you follow me on Instagram when we got home we were able to make it to the North Carolina State Fair! When we lived here before it was our intention to make it to the State Fair as I had never attended one and unfortunately things didn't happen that way and we didn't end up making it. That year at the fair many people contracted Ecoli from the petting zoo and died. I kid you not. I personally love a good petting zoo, or should I say I use to!

Last year we went to the Alaska State fair which was amazing! We drove out to Palmer and although it was September the mountains out there had just got a fresh blanket of snow and it was beautiful! We spent hours wandering around and eating and it was fabulous! I don't go on rides, I just cant do it if I want to hold my funnel cake so our fair trips generally require a lot of walking!!

I believe Sunday was the day we made it to the fair, forgive me as days seems to not mean much to me lately! It was the last day for the fair though and Jason assumed it wouldn't be too busy as most people would have at this point probably made multiple trips! NEGATIVE! We had to park well over a mile away and you could barely move once you entered the gates! I couldn't believe the amount of people there and the line ups for everything! Again thankfully we don't do rides so there were a few food lines but nothing major!

I'm not sure if you saw it on the news but as this year passed the fair here didn't pass without hitting the news in a negative way a time or two! Unfortunately there was an incident with a ride where the people were getting off and the ride started up again causing injuries to many, the gentlemen in charge of the ride was placed under arrest and although charged is fully cooperating with the police and has since been released feeling extremely awful. A gentlemen was also arrested for taking pictures of little boys in the bathroom, lovely right? Some people! There was another incident but I can't remember. I suppose these things happen everywhere, when you get crowds like that there is bound to be trouble somewhere.

So that's it for the State fair! We managed to get out of there with little traffic and stress. 

In the meantime we are still dealing with house repair people! If I didn't mention before the construction superintendent we dealt with through the entire build process is not longer with the company (don't really know what happened there) so two days ago we met with the new superintendent, Carter. Truthfully I had high hopes after our meeting as he did not diminish any of our concerns and basically said that he would start scheduling people and would be done on Wednesday.. which is fine because he was only getting until Wednesday! I refuse to spend the time we have here dealing with a construction zone because these people cant get their shit together. So it has been two days since we met with him and nobody has been in to do work and we have no received a work schedule. There is a gentlemen coming this morning, he was here already this week and late both times. 

I'm not going to lie I am SO OVER dealing with this bullshit and these people! We are suppose to hear from our sales rep every week, I don't even think I remember her name its been so long since we've heard from her. If I can give you any advice that I really encourage you to listen to.. DO NOT BUY A HOME FROM KB HOMES!!!!!! 

Yes that's how I really feel. Our first home buying experience has been a total bust and it is all because of their lack of professionalism and overall having their head so far up their asses they don't have a clue. End rant. 

So after said repair man finally shows up and does what needs to be done Jason and I are heading out to get a few things done. Its a little chilly here today and raining, yesterday was a lovely 79 degrees! The Seavey's are coming up tomorrow and Jason is making a seafood chowder! Obviously I don't eat seafood chowder (as I am deathly allergic to shelled seafood) and I absolutely hate that my house is going to stink but I'm hoping it will be gone tomorrow! 

I'm not sure if I will make it back this weekend, but I will definitely try! If not I hope you all have a FANTASTIC WEEKEND!!! Good luck to my Dad and brother who are headed to hunt camp for a week, BIG DEER GUYS, BIG DEER!

Our Long Trip Home and Halloween Fun!

Happy Hallows Eve all!!

I am going to stick to my word and tell ya'll about our trip home but I am also going to side track a little with some of our Halloween fun today!

As I mentioned before we had an issue with the Uhaul we booked for our trip home. As you know we both flew into Maine from different places and I am not going to lie with all our travel in the last 6 months the idea of flying into Maine for the weekend, flying home and then making the 18+ hour drive back for a week and then coming back was just not going to happen. We discussed it, or my absolute hate for the idea and the cost and just the travel time alone! We have a brand new house that I have no idea how long we are going to get to enjoy I didn't even want to think about leaving it yet again!! So we decided that we would book a driving Uhaul and spend a week there now and then make the drive home!

Jason ordered it online from a place about 15 minutes from his parents house, a corner store! I knew it was just too convenient and something would go on... how right was I. We got a call while there letting us know they would not have the size we ordered but instead one that was way bigger.. no thanks! If we wanted the size we booked we would have to drive 2 hours away! I was not happy but at this point getting a little home sick so Jason went and it got!

We managed to get everything in the Uhaul thankfully, when I first saw that thing I wasn't sure it was going to happen!! We decided that we would get on the road first thing Friday morning with no plan of how far to go and just see what happened. It was freezing cold that morning so although Dunkin Donut coffee sucks we stopped and got breakfast and an apple cider because it was going to be awhile before we got to anything else. Jason was so excited when we got out stuff.... oh New England...

I'm not going to lie our luck with driving this time wasn't great, the morning through Maine we encountered every single school bus and its mostly one lane roads, and the traffic basically continued! Thankfully the foliage throughout was beautiful!

The traffic didn't get really bad until New York, obviously! That's when the sitting started! Between New York and New Jersey we sat for about 4 hours! 

It was pretty miserable and once we got into Trenton, New Jersey and started moving Jason's eyes started burning so we just got a hotel and stopped for the night! 

The next morning I was excited knowing we were going to make it home! We woke up to a brisk morning in New Jersey and headed south!!

This is the Washington DC temple of the church of latter day saints ... it is simply amazing!! The pictures aren't great but we were driving at it!

We made really good time on the way home and were so happy to get here! Jason toured around and took in all the changes to the house! We decided to just unpack the Uhaul and get it over with! We put everything in the garage and slowly worked away at it and have been working away at it since! Its been a daunting task but today we put the last of the stuff inside away and it felt great! Just in time for Pumpkin picking!!

We stopped while out today and picked a few pumpkins off some character on the side of the road! haha, it wasn't exactly a pumpkin patch but things have been a little busy lately!! Either way we got good pumpkins and were excited to get to work tonight after dinner! 

Jason set up shop in the garage while I cleaned up from dinner and then we reverted to childhood... with wine and carved away!!

Note to self, get pumpkin carving knives because we have new knives that aren't meant for pumpkin carving!

All done! While we were carving our neighbors and their kids came over and introduced themselves and checked out our pumpkins! It was really nice, they are all super friendly!

The pumpkin seeds turned out great!! We roasted them while having a nice little face time date with Mom and Dad!! 

All in all we had a great night, things are put away and the house is coming together! We have now gotten everything here put away so we will start slowly working on our list of things to get and do some shopping around. It finally feels like we are home and can really enjoy the place! The last couple of nights we have laid around with the fire on watching TV, made dinner and sat at the table and ate, its been really great. 

Funny how things come together and all the sudden it feels like all is right in the world. I got to bed at night feeling content and actually sleep, I wake up feeling refreshed, happy... excited for the day... its been awhile since that has been the case.
