Weekend Recap!

Good Morning,

Two days in a row.. I know, I know.. basically unheard of lately but lets just run with it OK? This fall like weather is giving me life and thank the lord for that because I haven't slept in days! You know how it goes, every once in awhile my body says a big screw you and absolutely cannot sleep so I spend my nights tossing and turning, sitting on the couch all night watching TV and then eventually it goes away... here's to hoping that happens sooner than later!

Anyways I thought I would come by and recap our weekend, as I said before sometimes I know its not really all that interesting to you to know what we did all weekend and trust me that's fair, I totally get it.. we are not all that interesting but a lot of times I think it will be nice to read back years from now and have a memory book so to speak. In fact I have been looking into printing my blog like into a book, just for me to have... just a though.

But back to our weekend. I feel like I am drawing a blank on what we did on Friday. Jason got off work early as he does on Fridays.. we had dinner and I think we went out and did some running around, we must have. Ok so Friday didn't really mean much!

Saturday they were calling for rain but Jason and Dave planned to go golfing and I planned to go over and see Lindsey and the kids as I hadn't seen them at all last week. With all the plans in the air and getting together we figured we would have dinner together as well. Believe it or not it rained, I know I said they were calling for it but that generally means nothing so when it actually poured rain I was a little shocked. Jason and Dave went golfing in the morning anyways and drove together so I had the truck and planned to go about my plans as they were figuring Jason would be home a lot earlier than expected though. I was right. Jason got home early so we did a few things and than headed over to Dave and Lindsey's!

It rained on and off all day but we made it work! Dave and Jason are building a deck at Dave and Lindsey's rental house so they worked on that. We had a great dinner and then Jason and Dave decided to play football with the neighbors kids. The neighbors have two boys and a girl and the kids father is in the Air Force so he's not around a lot and the boys LOVE the attention Dave and Jason give them. The littlest boy is SO DARN CUTE, I literally want to take him home! He is so sweet and polite and such a joy to be around, so when they decided to play football he politely asked Jason to be on his team.. but then his game face came on! I sat on the side lines hysterical!

Dave was trying to instill better sportsmanship into the older one and the younger one was running around yelling out calls and falling into the ground waiting for Jason or Dave to come around and help him to his feet haha. At one point Stallion (the little one) looks at Jason straight in the face and says "WHEN I TELL YOU TO HIT, HIT IT!!!" I was seriously dying of laughter, I don't even think Jason knew what to say to him or how to respond! Then Stallion wanted to be the one to throw to Jason when they had to the ball, so he's standing there with the ball and Jason is running in circles while Dave and the kids brother is chasing him.. so the three of them are running in circles and every time Jason passes Stallion he's telling him to throw him the ball and Stallion is telling Jason to get back further.. they must have ran in circles for a good five minutes.. I was crying I was laughing so hard!! By the end of the game Jason and Dave were feeling like they weren't teenagers anymore, sweating up a storm.. I don't even know who won and I don't think it mattered, everyone had such a good time.. including me on the sidelines watching!

After that we went home, it was time for the girls to go to bed and the neighbors to go home. We came home and watched a special on the Patriots we had taped the night before, it was an amazing insight into the team and hard work that goes into their dynasty, totally worth watching!

Sunday morning we got up and went to have breakfast at Einstein Bagels, Dave introduced me to it while Lindsey was in the hospital after having Colton ad I have been thinking about it ever since. I'm not big on breakfast and never really care to go out for it but a bagel and cream cheese is a really nice treat. I swear there is something about a fresh bagel and this amazing cream cheese. They basically have every flavor and I cant say enough good things about them. We got bagels and coffees and Jason had his first pumpkin muffin with cream cheese frosting, he was thoroughly impressed.

After that we headed back to Dave and Lindsey's so the guys could work on the deck. Did I mention the weather was absolutely AMAZING on Sunday? It was the first taste of fall and I couldn't have loved it any more! We basically spent the whole day outside all of us in the backyard enjoying the amazing weather.. it was perfect! Baby Colton also got a nice taste of fall like weather and I would say he was a fan...

I am so in love with this babe, he is the tiniest, sweetest thing ever! He literally slept in my arms outside for what seemed like forever, he was really enjoying the fresh air. I could seriously snuggle him all day and it would never get old.

While Colton was snoozing and Lindsey and I were enjoying the sun the girls were "helping" Jason and Dave with the deck!

As you can see Lily was the biggest help of all, HAHA! At one point I looked over and she was on Jason's back and had a hold of his ears like she was holding on for dear life, it was hysterical. Jason is such a good sport though he absolutely loves the girls and when he wasn't doing something with the deck he was chasing the girls around the back yard, carrying them around on his shoulders or helping them be gymnasts on the piles of wood in the backyard!

We had a great afternoon and by the time we left it was too late to cook a big ham for dinner like we had planned but that was totally fine with me, I don't care for a big dinner anyways and because we didn't have time we had sandwiches and salad which is way more my thing! We spent the rest of the night watching football.. it was a really good first week! The Patriots won on Thursday.. best way to start and I won the pool this week!

Did you all watch the Cowboys vs. Giants game? If not you seriously missed out, poor Dez Bryant though, that is definitely going to hurt the Cowboys!

So that was our weekend, the weather this week is suppose to be in the low 80s, still not fall weather but cooler than it has been so I will take it!

I hope you all had a great weekend and are having a great week! Thank you as always for stopping by!

Here There and Everywhere! We've Moved Again!

Good Morning,

Long time no see right? I'm really sorry for the radio silence around here, I didn't know what would happen in the time of our whirlwind move but I didn't figure I would make it here very much and as it turned out I was right. Things were really hectic and we are only just getting internet and getting setup so I thought I would stop in today and fill you in best I can with all that has been going on!

So last we talked we were getting ready to leave New Jersey and head home for a short time before moving on to Maryland! Because we had just been home less than two weeks before it was nice that we didn't have a ton of stuff to do while we were there, or so I thought!

We left Jersey on the morning of the 10th I think.. everything is kind of a blur but I am pretty sure it was the 10th! We did really well with traffic getting home and were there are 2:30pm I believe. Obviously having not much time there we wanted to get home as early as we could on Friday to add another day basically. We dropped off all our stuff at the house and turned everything on and then figured we would get grocery shopping over with so we wouldn't have to go anywhere else for the day.

After we finished all of that I decided to unpack everything on account that I didn't want suitcases laying around the entire time we were home, I wanted it to actually feel like we lived there for awhile. Generally when we go home its not for long and the loft space upstairs is full of suitcases the whole time. While I unpacked Jason was out in the yard doing things, and at one point came in and hollered for me to come and check out a baby bunny in the backyard. I went out to see and soon realized it wasn't exactly playing in the yard, it was slumped up against the back fence. I freaked out and thought it was dead, I begged Jason to bury it! Long story short my amazing husband dug a whole in the back yard where I requested to bury said bunny and when he went to get it it amazingly perked up and ran away. Thank god. He had gotten so close to it before and tapped on the fence right beside it and it didn't move at all, turns out he was just a really deep sleeper!

Friday was really relaxed and it was so good to be home, we grilled and just enjoyed the day! Saturday we planned to look at trucks because we have been talking about getting a new one for quite some time. Little did I know this would turn into an all day event! We by no means found what we were looking for but none the less it was an interesting and informative day. By this time though we were both STARVING and felt disgusting at it was well over 100 degrees so we decided to stop at one of our favorite places for lunch, Jason's Deli.  On the way back from a late lunch we got a call from someone who wanted to buy our travel bed that we listed on Craigslist and were extremely happy to sell! They came and picked that up and we spent the afternoon puttering and just enjoying the day!

Sunday we needed to find a bed because we had sold ours and were moving and needed it. I really wanted to wait until we got to Maryland to look but Jason felt that we had already ordered the Uhaul and basically needed to fill it with a bed or all our stuff would bounce around on the trip. It made sense but mostly I didn't want to have to move the damn thing! We headed out first thing on Sunday and toured around a bit and long story short found a bed.

Jason really does his research!

I feel like I don't even know how we spent the rest of the day on Sunday.. believe it or not the time we were there flew by as it always does. It was hot, we were busy and it was over before we knew it.

Monday we had to pick up the Uhaul but we knew that once we had it we wouldn't be going anywhere else so we decided to have lunch at the Twisted Fork because we absolutely LOVE their food.

Jason ordered these southern brined and crispy wings and let me just say.. they were amazing!

I went specifically for the fried green tomato BLT and it did not disappoint!

After that we picked up the Uhaul and spent the afternoon packing.. not fun at all. We had a bunch of leftovers for dinner which worked out really well and basically just relaxed before moving the next day.

Tuesday morning flew by and we got on the road just before 10am. The drive ended up being just under 4 hours which was great and we arrived and filled out all the paperwork and started moving in. I cant tell you how thankful we are for Dave who came over after work and helped Jason unload the Uhaul, it was such an amazing help and made everything go so much quicker! We are on the second floor with no elevator and there was just absolutely no way I could have helped Jason bring up the bed or dresser!

After we got things moved in Jason went to take back the Uhaul and it became very apparent that something was wrong with the truck. Long story short, worst timing ever but the exhaust had rusted out on the truck and was ready to fall off, it ended up going in the next day to have a whole new exhaust put on it.. not exactly what we were expecting. For the last week we have just been getting things situated, getting familiar with our surroundings and so on.

I plan to do an apartment tour as it has pretty much come together, so stay tuned for that this week!

Also yesterday we bought a new truck. I thought we were going to breakfast which we did.. but then we spent the afternoon at the dealership. More on that later as well, we get the truck early this week so I will make sure to share pictures and what not.

Not much else to report, we went to Dave and Lindsey's for a BBQ Friday night which was really great, being on this job not only has us closer to home but closer to friends which is really great!

Jason playing with Lily & Ava.

Jason & Lily Swimming!

I'm waiting on the Verizon guy to show up so I need to get some stuff done so I will leave you with some pictures from our walk the other night. I will do an apartment tour this week as well as fill y'all in on the new truck!!

Thank you as always for stopping by, I hope you have been well and have a great day!!

Fourth of July Festivities 2015

Good Morning,

Are you all recovering nicely from the holiday weekend? I'm sure Monday was rough but at this rate you are already half way through the week basically!

Although we had a pretty low key 4th of July I thought I would stop by and share what we did do because I thought it was worth a mention. Besides although obviously not all posts but some posts I write I think will be great to look back on later and see pictures and read about the things we have done and where. If you know me at all you know my memory is crap so I need all the help I can get!!

Jason worked on Saturday which pretty much sucked, although I am use to him working all the time it always seems to bug me just a little bit more on a holiday. Having said that it really is the norm so we just roll with it and make the best of the time we do have. Jason had intended to only work until noon but that ended up turning into 3:00pm so by the time he got back here and showered and we got out the door it was a little later than we had expected!

We had considered booking a late night dinner cruise in Manhattan to have the option of watching Fireworks from the boat which would have been amazing but I wasn't keen on paying the large price tag, especially when Jason's work schedule is so unreliable! We considered going into the city to watch fireworks but sadly with the terror threats they were being extremely strict in the city and I worried that with Jason working late and them putting a limit on the amount of people allowed in certain areas (the best areas to see the fireworks) we wouldn't get there in time to actually get a decent spot.

In the end we decided to go to Liberty State Park in New Jersey, they were having a fair with food trucks, carnival rides, games, entertainment and so on! Plus they put on their own huge fireworks display and we figured if we got to the right spot we would be able to see not only the Jersey ones but the ones Macy's was putting on over on the East River as well.

Finding parking and getting into the park was OUTRAGEOUS! I expected it to be bad but not nearly as bad as it ended up being! We managed to get parking at the Liberty Science Center which was pretty ideal and then walked over to the park. By the time we got there we were both starving so we scoped out the food trucks!

Aren't these little rescue vehicles amazing? I thought that was such a great idea!!

Guys, how excited was I to see the Nuncha's food truck there!! I am a sucker for a good empanada and I have had these quite a few times and they are AMAZING! If you happen to come across one of these, the spicy chicken empanada is where its at!

Jason's converting to a truth southerner and went directly for the Carolina BBQ. Pulled pork sandwich and baked beans! The Pulled pork was on point, the beans were not Carolina Style though.. we were not impressed!

Lady Liberty in all her glory!

People were legit camped out! There were tents everywhere and people had brought their own charcoal BBQs and what not, I wish we had the whole day and could have had a setup like that, it looked like a really good time!

Manhattan from Liberty State Park.

After eating we spent a ton of time just walking around the park and enjoying the beautiful day! They had a TON of food and live entertainment and of course the park is on the water which is always really nice. After touring around for a long time we decided to go back for more food. I just wanted an ice cream because its something we really never have but Jason decided he needed to have a smoked turkey leg. Jason's been talking about smoked turkey legs for quite some time now and even looked at them in the grocery store last time we were home but decided not to get one. After his BBQ we continued walking and when he saw them he absolutely knew he had to get one, but he needed to walk off his first meal.

Generally smoked turkey legs are just plain but this particular venue offered Buffalo, Bourbon BBQ as well as plain so Jason went with the Bourbon BBQ.

Jason's shoes are a size 12 and this thing was as book as his foot!!

That's basically as far as he got, he put a good dent in it. The lady sitting a few feet away from us was eyeing him while he was eating it and eventually her husband went to get them some. When he came back Jason made sure to warn them all that the key to eating one of those things was to pace yourself, he said that he forgot this time. HA! Jason hates to waste food.

When Jason was done eating we decided to just hang around where we planned to watch the fireworks! It seemed like a really long wait because they didn't start until 9:30pm but really it wasn't, neither Jason or I are overly patient. I will say though it was soooo worth the wait! The fireworks display put on by the park was absolutely AMAZING and we got to see the Macy's display right behind it, it was perfect! Jason absolutely LOVES fireworks and he was beyond impressed and overwhelmed. Liberty State Park actually put on two displays, once on either end of the park so no one missed a thing, and if you were in the right spot you got to see the same show in two places simultaneously!

This is a crappy picture but you can see the Freedom Tower lit up red, white and blue at the top and to the right you can see part of the Macy's Fireworks display.

The Macy's fireworks display right in the center, the barges were behind the buildings on the East River but the fireworks went high enough that we got a perfect view.

Getting out of the parking lot was the worst part of the drive home, mostly because people drive like assholes. If every person let one other person in, it would go so smooth and everyone would get out but instead no one wants to let anyone in and people are honking and so on.. its outrageous!

The drive home was nice, there were fireworks everywhere which was great! We didn't get home until quite late so it was straight to bed as Jason had to work on Sunday. Although we didn't get to spend the day having a big BBQ and all that jazz I am really happy with what we did do!

I hope you all had an amazing holiday and enjoyed your festivities to the fullest!!

Seavey's Visit NYC & The Patriots Defeat the Jets!!

So obviously this post is a long time coming, truth be told I had all intentions of writing it a long time ago but they left on December 22nd VERY early and naturally I was up to say goodbye! Tanya and I went out to get things done and truth be told Christmas came very quickly and therefore it never got done!

Brianne text me way back in September or August maybe and asked if there was a chance that we would be able to meet them in Foxborough, Mass to see the Patriots at Gillette Stadium in December. I would have loved to have told her yes as Jason is dying to go but we had already booked tickets to the Patriots game at Metlife the week after and with Jason's work schedule attending both games just wasn't going to happen. We miss the Seavey's terribly and I was sad that it wouldn't work out, but when I told her that we already had the tickets she decided to just get tickets to the game that we were going to here! Road trip to NYC! How excited was I? We started looked at tickets and managed to get them two tickets in the section right beside us, PERFECT! The tickets were technically a Christmas present for Evan and therefore he wasn't allowed to know.

Brianne and I talked back and forth for months about them coming and all the things we would do on top of going to the game. Come Thanksgiving though Jason was anxious to get in on the excitement and insisted Brianne tell Evan.. so she did! At this point we could all talk about it and be excited and that's exactly what we did, until they got here.

The Seavey's arrived early on the morning of the 19th and I was soooo thrilled to see them. Sadly Jason had to work Friday so we went to breakfast at City Diner and then Tanya met us and we headed into the city for the day! We managed to cover a lot more ground than I had hoped, although I think it might have been a little more than Brianne and Evan had hoped for! It was a lot of walking. We went to World Trade, Wall St, Soho and back to Jersey City!!

Fountain at World Trade

Trinity Church at Wall St. - Beyond incredible inside.

Some art at Battery Park that Tanya and I couldn't help but imitate.

Ellis Island from Battery Park.

Lady Liberty from Battery Park.

I want to say we were at Spring Street Natural here, but I honestly cant say for sure. We were close to Spring Street and Lafayette Street in Soho but that is all I can say for sure.

We managed to make it back home after our drink to meet Jason and get ready to go out for dinner. Josh also went to college with Evan and Tanya and Josh joined up for dinner at Taphaus which was PACKED due to Christmas parties but we had drinks, got a table and had an awesome dinner and overall great night!

Saturday morning we got up and had breakfast before heading into the city for what was going to be a very long and cold day!!! We got into Manhattan and of course got a slice of pizza because you obviously cant come to NYC and not have a piece of pizza. We took them through Herald Square and Time Square and up towards Central Park. Let me just say that trying to tour people around the city around a holiday is a complete nightmare and makes the city even more overwhelming than usual. By the time we made it to the park we ended up stopping at PJ Carney's for a drink! It was soooo cold that day and none of us having had a Northern winter in awhile felt the need to make a stop and warm up! Leaving there we went to the park, toured around Columbus Circle, the Columbus Circle Market and made our way along the park over to 5th to start our trek down to enjoy all the amazing window displays for Christmas. Believe it or not on our way we ran into other Patriot fans who had JUST met The Patriots Owner Robert Kraft outside the Plaza hotel! We almost died.. naturally we hustled over there but he was already gone, so disappointing!

5th Avenue was amazing as always, I had already been with Tanya but we all absolutely loved it! We made the stops at St. Patrick's Cathedral, The NYC Public Library, Bryant Park and then of course to Rockefeller Center to see the tree. It was all absolute madness but entirely amazing at the same time!!

Bri & I at PJ Carney's!

Inside Columbus Circle Mall

 The tree at Rockefeller Center!

Incredible light show on the side of a building to which names is escaping me! We saw this last time we were here and it was incredible, I could not wait to see it again this year. If you look closely at the last picture you can see the Empire State Building, one has the Rocketttes, its all incredible!

At this point we were absolutely FREEZING and still had a decent walk before getting to Stout NYC in midtown for dinner. Stout is one of my favorite, if not my absolute favorite place to eat in the city and let me tell you it did not disappoint. We started to de-ice as we were absolutely FROZEN, drank amazing holiday beers and enjoyed fantastic food! We were all exhausted and ready to go home, we needed to get out rest for the big game the next day!

Sunday morning was game day! We were all up early and ready, we grabbed breakfast and coffee on the way to the train station as it was a 1:00pm game but we wanted to get there early to avoid a crazy packed train and because neither of the Seavey's have ever been to an NFL game before and we wanted them to get the full experience. The train ride was smooth and not busy at all and as soon as we got off the train the stadium was in full game mode, it was fantastic!

Metlife Stadium

Guys I'm sorry, crappy iPhone pictures!

I regret now not buying a hat like Brianne's, I absolutely need one!

PATS NATION!!!

The game was a nail biter! Julian Edelman wasn't playing and these loud mouth little boys behind us pushed me the point of having to turn around and school the little loud mouth on his Jets knowledge which was extremely limited. Listen, I am all about the shit talk and having a good time but if you are going to run your mouth and annoy every person sitting in an earshot at least know what the hell you are talking about. Needless to say when I turned back around he shut his mouth.. for awhile. He opened it again and the two guys in front of us decided they were going to have a go at them, it got physical with them.. I stayed out of that. Overall it was awesome, the Patriots WON and therefore the ride back on the train was a lot more pleasant!

We came home, got in our sweats and ordered way too much Chinese food and it was an awesome way to end their visit!

We absolutely love the Seavey's and are so sad that they have moved to Maine and we wont see them when we are at home, but visits here and there will have to do and this one was fantastic! They were up and out the door first thing on Monday morning.. and I do mean first thing, 5am! Thankfully they made great time and although you never know this time of year they didn't face any adverse weather!

Great visit, great game, great friends... worth posting about!

I hope y'all had a great weekend, I am going to catch up this week and we will be on to regular posting in 2015.. its one of my goals, but we will get to the later!
