IT FINALLY HAPPENED!

Well folks, have a seat because you aren't going to believe this one! I had a good freakin' day here! I know.. crazy right? Truth be told it wasn't really here, we drove to the shore today.. but whatever it was a good day!

Part of the reason I am having a hard time here is because of the adjustment of super city life again, which if you know me at all you would have thought that would have been the selling feature for me moving here, guess what.. I thought so too. As I have said before I absolutely loved my New York life but somehow knew it would be different this time. I miss being able to get into the truck and go where ever I want without sitting in hours of traffic, believe it or not.. I miss being surrounded by trees! I know, you're wondering if Jason took over my blog, negative!

I surprised myself today in feeling the breath of fresh air it was to get out of the city! We took off early this morning, windows down, music up.. front seat dance party before noon! We arrived at Point Pleasant before lunch and hit the beach! Now of course not everything could go smoothly, I forgot the camera! So you're going to have to deal with grainy iPhone pictures!

This was some bridge we crossed going into Point Pleasant, there were a TON of boats out today! I think Jason may have sold me on buying one.

The area surrounding the beach was really gorgeous as well, this was a small lake just off the beach.

The beach was packed, which means New Jersey is making a killing! It was $15 to park and $19 for the two of us to get on the beach! LUDICROUS! I guess its because of the upkeep, but I can't say we have ever paid to be on a beach.

We walked the beach to find a good spot to find out and soon realized we would not be going in the water! The waves were CRAZY and the water was freezing cold! It was a beautiful day to lay out though, the sun was out but there was a little bit of a breeze, perfect beach weather.

It was also pretty obvious pretty quickly that entering the water would most certainly end with your bathing suit full of seaweed. No thank you.

The water was beautiful though!

I think they seriously considered it... but come on, they wouldn't have stayed on their feet.

Naturally after laying out on the beach and not having had breakfast it was time to find a spot that had food and frozen drinks! We walked to the opposite end of the beach and then back towards the boardwalk and went into the first beach side place we came to. I was starving by that point and if Jason learned anything from last weekend it was that I am not super nice when I am that hungry! We ordered fruity drinks to start!

Ain't that just so pretty?

Then the band came on so we had beers! During this time we also had lunch which was great.. but the beers were better! The band they had playing was out of Pennsylvania and they were amazing, we could have sat there all day and trust me we considered it but our parking ticket was going to run out! As we were sitting there though I was looking at the sign and asked Jason if he remembered seeing it anywhere we had been before because it sounded so familiar to me. He didn't think so, but then it hit me.. Its from JERSEY SHORE.. the show!!! I wasn't really in to the show but I knew this much at least!

Remember? The place was pretty awesome truth be told! It was absolutely huge, outdoor seating overlooked the beach and the indoor seating was all open. They had 4 bars around and a huge stage and dance floor. They actually get some pretty big name performers there as well.

After we left there we walked to the other end of the boardwalk then back to the truck. You see the traffic here isn't all that fantastic on a good day we really didn't want to sit in a parking lot coming back like we just barely avoided this morning. We listened to music and sang at the top of our lungs the entire way home.. it was FANTASTIC!

Although the view it great, I couldn't help but wish we were driving south! I want to sit on the deck and listen to music, sleep in my king size bed so Jason's elbow isn't in my face every time I turn around. I want beer to be cheaper and the weather to be hotter.. but I had a great day today and I will take it.

We got home to some kind of horrific windstorm! I truly don't know what it going on but I got out of the truck and almost blew into the Hudson! We managed to get into the building but let me tell you it was a close one. We came in and lazed around for awhile before getting ready to head to dinner.

Last week one night we went for a walk and came across this place called Bertucci's, its brick oven pizza and pasta.. straight up good Italian food! We knew we would be back in time to have dinner in the city and thought we would give it a try. We had a favorite place in Alaska called the Fire Tap Alehouse  and we both loved it, Jason for their calzones and he thought the Bertucci's menu was very similar. We walked over there and I kid you not almost froze to death.. OK me more then him but you get what I'm sayin'! The food was amazing, we have already decided what we are going to get next time we go back! Its literally 3 blocks away so I think that will be soon!!

Anyways Jason's old so although its 8:30pm he's in bed! I am doing laundry, washing bras and going to finish reading Rolling Stone. Aren't we so exciting? We don't have much planned for tomorrow, its suppose to be super nice and after having such a shitty week of weather we are thinking about grilling and laying out by the pool.

I am really keeping my hopes up to have some nice weather next week let me tell you, Monday is looking to be good so far so I am going to hold onto that!

I hope you are all having a fantastic weekend!

Cheers!

Get Over Yourself!

Not you, Me! As you probably noticed I have not been around this week and really the only reason is because I have nothing to say. I really thought this week would be a fantastic week because Josh and Tanya arrived on Sunday and I figured this may very well be the first time ever I could show her around, well that didn't happen. I don't know about all of you but we have had THE WORST weather this week, and literally all week.

Today the sun finally came out and we managed to take a walk, but overall there hasn't been much to tell. I am trying to get over hating it here.. and really I suppose its not that I hate it here but that I would just rather be somewhere else, and that just hasn't gone away. Three weeks until we go home for a long weekend and let me tell you.. I CANNOT FREAKIN' WAIT!

When we left home I believe Jason was prepared for me to sob the entire way here.. and truthfully the only reason I didn't was because I really felt that if I hated it I would just go home and that's what I kept telling myself. I know that its not reasonable to live apart for a year and pay for two homes but let me tell you.. there are days when you wouldn't have to tell me twice to pack my shit if it was an option to go home.

Anyways I am not here to complain, we got a few hours of sun today and that turned my day around, Tanya and I actually managed to go for a walk and get home before the storm hit! The weekend is looking to be better so I think we may head to Point Pleasant tomorrow for the day which I am looking forward to.

I thought I would stop in tonight and share my week in pictures! I promise to be better next week, the weather is suppose to be looking up and I plan to have a day by the pool and get my blog on a lot more!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.. I'm sure I will take a picture or two and share some of ours!

So last weekend we walked over to Hoboken for a late lunch and as we were walking around, I was like... "what the hell are all these people standing in line for?" apparently they were waiting to get into Carlos Bake Shop, AKA. Cake Boss! I wish I had something to order a cake for.

I believe Tuesday I was a little early to meet Tanya and I had gotten no sleep the night before, so I got the biggest coffee I could and made my way to the little park across the street from Starbucks. I wanted to spend my entire day there, it was so pretty surrounded by flowers in a little park, but not 5 minutes after Tanya arrived it started to rain. I definitely plan to spend time there, with coffee from Starbucks. What could be better?

Always a straggler! These guys have been around for about two weeks, I have seen them all over Jersey City and wish very much that they would find a quieter more appropriate place to wander. So far drivers seem to be extremely considerate of them which I am grateful for, I would hate to see an accident happen.

This is a beautiful Sundial along the boardwalk in Jersey City, I'm not sure it works (probably because all we get is rain here) but I like it none the less.

Through out the city there are tributes to 9/11 in many places. This one in particular is directly across the Hudson from where the twin towers once stood. Its a somber reminder.

This as well is part of the monument. These pieces were part of the wreckage from the Twin Towers.

This Colgate clock sits at the end of the boardwalk walking towards the Statue of Liberty, actually she sits right to the left in this picture but it was quite hazy today so I couldn't get a good shot of her anyways. I will work on that though.

Tanya asked a gentlemen (whose bike is to my right) to take this picture of us. As he was doing it I assumed only our heads would be in the picture but it turned out really good. This was during the two sunny hours we got today, and we took advantage of every single second.

So that's pretty much whats been going on around here.. nothing. So far they are calling for nice weather until Monday night and then back to crap. I am hoping over the weekend that will change and we can get back to the amazing summer we were having before this week. I have been still getting to the gym and plan to start running the boardwalk if the rain ever quits. If nothing else I will get my ass in shape being here.. so I suppose things could be worse.

I have spent my night drinking wine and reading trashy magazines and now I am heading to bed.

Later Gators!

FUNK

No not the music! Good lord, who do you think I am?

As I sure you have noticed I haven't been around all that much, part of that is because it is officially summer and I don't want to be inside if I don't have to be and the other part is because I am in a funk! I am trying to shake it, I am actually trying really hard to shake it but I feel like I have nothing positive to say and therefore I don't want to come here and spew negativity!!

Having said all that I decided that today I would stop in and tell you exactly what is on my mind.. because right now that is all I've got.

1. I'm not sleeping well, this queen size bed is basically a sardine can and there is not nearly enough room. For awhile I tried to sleep like a contortionist because Jason feels the need to sleep in the middle but now I have taken on a completely new approach, swinging my knees and elbows.. me not sleeping is not good for anyone.

2. Speaking of not sleeping I will lay in bed and think of things and need to make note of them at that time otherwise I will never remember, so I reach for my phone and last night while doing so I pulled something in my neck/shoulder and it hurt really bad, and still does.

3. As for needing to make note of things when I think of them or I wont remember, this has been a bigger issue then usual lately. I have a terrible memory, but I swear lately it has been pretty pathetic. For example yesterday I went to the mall for two things and left with neither!!! Not because they didn't have them but because I didn't remember I was suppose to get the. Its really frustrating to be honest, Jason shakes his head relentlessly. The other night we walked over to the mall to walk around and to get his watch fixed and we ended up dropping his watch off to be sent away and when we left I asked him what time it was. He was like...uhhh? If its this bad now, I'll be in a home by 35.

4. Jason's cheap and doesn't want to buy a new fan (even though we've had this one for a million years and got our moneys worth) and this fan is WAY TOO LOUD!

5. I don't have any clothes to wear. With all my clothes I don't feel like I have anything to wear, therefore what do you think I am thinking with a quarter of my clothes? It makes every morning stressful.

6. I hate panel blinds, they are useless and let all the light in!!

7. I am cheap and refuse to buy curtains to go over the panel blinds because I would rather be buying things for my beautiful house.

8. The gym keeps me sane, although I am sure this post will make you question that.

9. I believe part of my not sleeping and forgetting everything is I constantly feel in a tailspin.. my brain literally never stops. The wheels aren't just always turning, they are speeding!

10. I hate having one bathroom, guaranteed when Jason is in there I am going to have to pee.

11. I am nervous in the kitchen. No not just being in there, but cooking! The stupid smoke detector is right there, staring at me all the time and I am so afraid to set it off as they are much more sensitive in apartments! I use to set it off in New York all the time and they would call up to the apartment on the intercom. #mortifying

12. I don't have a nightstand. Usually in apartments we don't have enough room for two, in Alaska we sold all our stuff and so we don't have one here. What do I do with all my shit? This is why I pulled a muscle reaching for my phone.. all my shit is on the floor!

13. There is no storage in this apartment and therefore I feel like there is shit everywhere and I hate that.. my nerves are frazzled.. I hate totes sitting with no home.

14. There is no cell phone service to make calls from within my apartment. Apparently the cement floors in between the units interfere. Seeing the words "Call failed" sends me into a rage, probably more so than necessary.

15. I still cant figure out the channels here with Comcast and therefore I pretty much miss any show I would want to watch. That's a pisser.

16. I miss our Target at home, I know where everything is and it is all set up so perfectly with all the best stuff. This Target is a joke, I cant even push the damn cart through the racks because THEY ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER!! Common sense people, common freakin' sense!

17. Everyone is rude. I am not stereotyping, I mean everyone. No one holds doors, manners don't exist. I hate that.

18. I am completely shocked by peoples behavior. Every.Single.Day! I would not consider myself sheltered and lets be honest if you know me at all you know that I have a mouth like a sailor, but peoples behavior here shocks me! I am constantly shaking my head and making that "shocked face".. its mind boggling!

19. Have I mentioned how damn expensive things are here?

20. The roads here are terrible. Hence last nights flat tire due to a nail! #awesome.

21. I hate slow walkers. What happened to people in the city being on the move? WALK FASTER!

22. I am sick of this hamster cage we call our apartment when we have a huge beautiful home!

23. I'm too fat to put on a bathing suit and be able to swim which is depressing and a catch 22 because I am trying to lose weight but the hot weather makes me want to have a beer.

24. Germs... ugh. The city is dirty which I have a hard time with. I should own shares in Purell and Wet Wipes.

25. I miss my bath tub, this one is for a child, a very small child... which I am not.

26. I miss my house, I want to go home.

27. I need a hug.

That's it.

Jason isn't working this weekend and its suppose to be gorgeous so I think after Jason's eye exam tomorrow we are going to walk over to Hoboken and have lunch outside which I am looking forward to.

Have a great weekend.

I Hate Socks.

Going to the gym every morning requires me putting on socks and I HATE socks! Socks me winter, they mean cold.. or they mean sweating in your running shoes.. all bad in my books!

Its quite warm today which I am super excited about, I got up this morning and headed to the gym and good lord did I sweat! They turned the air conditioning on in the building this weekend but apparently they forgot the gym! I sweat, sweat and sweat some more all while wishing I could be running in my flip flops, but that probably wouldn't work. Having said that I do believe it would be quite entertaining for those around me.. or annoying.. either way.

So this weekend Jason and I headed into Manhattan!! I really thought this was going to be the turning point in how I felt about being back North and more so being stuck here for the next year. NEGATIVE! I swear I went in with the best possible attitude, I was super excited to get there and just explore.. I thought I would get off the subway, walk out onto the street and breathe a big sigh of relief. Well...

First off I will say the subway ride seemed endless and hot. I was very confused why on a warm Saturday afternoon the air wasn't on in the subway.. it was seriously sweltering. We arrived at 33rd street and came up to nothing but construction!! The whole city is under construction worse then I have ever seen it! With less space to disperse and the same amount of people getting around was extremely difficult. I will attribute part of that to Jason being a slow walker which is just the worse idea in Manhattan anytime!

I should have anticipated Jason wouldn't have wanted to shop, but I guess that's what I did a lot of when we use to live there, so without that I found myself a little lost as to what we were going to do. We toured around for a really long time and then decided to get lunch at a Dallas BBQ place just off from Time Square... it was incredible!

Must love the original Macy's.

I saw this guy and cracked up.. When Mom and Barb came to visit Barb dressed up for a picture with this guy and it was amazing!

Much needed Pina Colada

Famous chicken wings.. they were pretty good!

While at lunch we realized it was pouring rain out! Not something we were expecting, but thankfully by the time we were finished the rain had stopped. We headed towards Bryant Park in hopes that the rain was over and we could enjoy the beautiful park! Jason had to use the men's room so I took that opportunity to take a few pictures, of course.

The park is so beautiful, it always amazes me that in the middle of the city sits this beautiful little park so lush and green! There is a fountain and a carousel, the most perfect little spot. However we did not get to enjoy it on account that it started to rain, hard!

We decided to check out a few stores in hopes of the rain subsiding! There are a few places Jason really likes in the city and so we made sure to hit those!

I somehow managed to prevent this from coming home with us!

I won't lie not only did we get rained on, we saw 5 naked women (apparently its a new thing in New York?), the naked cowboy, 2 VERY LARGE snakes and some guy said the F word to me. Now if you know me at all you know I have a mouth like a trucker but I was so shocked an offended. I said "No thank you" to his CD and he said "take the f$&(*_# CD, its free music"... PARDON ME! If I wasn't so taken aback I assure you would I would said something worse back, but I found myself walking away telling Jason how that would NEVER happen in the South!

I was disappointed with our trip, maybe the New York life that I so desperately had high hopes of reliving isn't for me anymore. Sad truth.

We have however taken full advantage of walking around our current surroundings and taking in the view. I hope you don't stop visiting here because of all the pictures of our view because I somehow think it wont get old for awhile.

Sorry they are also grainy iPhone pictures!

Yesterday we had a bunch of running around to do in the morning, I was a little cranky about it because it was actually a nice day and I just wanted to enjoy it.. mostly because running around here takes hours because everything is a cluster screw all the damn time! AND... you wont even believe this, we were outside the grocery store and some guy yelled the F word! UNREAL! Like who the hell are these people that they don't have have enough respect or common decency not to walk around cursing in public places?!?! THERE ARE CHILDREN AROUND! I'm so angry about this aspect of my new surroundings.

We managed to get in some pool time yesterday, for me more so a lounge chair time which was great. Jason got a NASTY burn though.. silly boy, no sunscreen!

This is by far the only compensation for having to live in an apartment again!

I sweat my tush off at the gym this morning in hopes of maybe being able to wear a bathing suit sometime this summer. I then spent some time at the pool but came in to blog and get a few things before Jason gets home. We are planning on going back to the gym.. me going back, him going and then having a light dinner before heading out for our nightly stroll!

I've got somethings planned for the blog this week. I'm not going to lie I've been in such a mood that I haven't made an effort to be here so to spare you my complaining. I'm working on getting myself in a better place and really hope that will reflect here.

I hope you are all getting as nice of weather as we are today, if so take advantage!
