I'm the queen of pie making.. a good turkey is always a good thing.. but Ive made hundreds of turkeys! This was my very first pie and it was a HUGE success!! SO HAPPY!

HAPPY AMERICAN THANKSGIVING!!

Well hello all,

I don't have a lot of time but I thought I would stop in and wish you all a very Happy American Thanksgiving!

Its been a super busy week here with work, getting ready for Christmas.. which I know seems a little ridiculous when today is Thanksgiving but truth be told Christmas is around the corner and when you have to ship gifts to another country you need to get a head start!

Work has been busy.. I got to wrap 600 boxes of chocolates for all the residents at Christmas!! If you don't believe me.. take a look!

 

Jason and I managed to get our Christmas tree though and all our decorations to which we will put all together on Sunday! Jason is so excited for Christmas!!

 

Last night we went out to dinner, and managed to get the rest of the things we needed for today which was a feat all in itself! Honestly the grocery store was full of stupidity and ignorance! I wanted to kill someone.. it was ridiculous.. why does that always happen around the holidays?? People aren't any nicer let me tell you!

 

Anyways I'm in good shape today, turkey is in, home made pie is done! Apartment is clean and everything else is ready to go! I only managed to slice one finger while cutting the squash.. not to shabby! Take a gander!

 

 

Anyways I'm off to put the last load of laundry away and then start on my Christmas presents! I just ordered Jason's anniversary gift.. it was a really hard decision and will definitely be late but I think it will be worth it in the end!

 

I hope everyone has a great day, I'm thankful to be off work today! Truthfully though I think its easy to lose sight of all the great things you have in your life in everyday life. Its easy to be miserable about your job, surroundings (wicked cold Alaska) and not look at all the good things you have.. all that you have to be thankful for. I may hate my job, and be stuck in miserable cold Alaska but I'm here with Jason and that will always trump the bad. I'm so grateful to be married to Jason and for our wonderful life together.

 

If I don't get back here before the weekend I will make sure to do so on the weekend and post pictures of my turkey and what not. Unfortunately Jason is working today and I don't know what time he will be home.. but he carves the turkey so there will be no eating without him!

Brisket Anyone?

Well hello all,

It was my full intention to blog on Sunday but it was my only day that I had to do everything and I just didn't get around to it. Its been awhile since I have had to work with no days off and it seems that we have so much to do and so little time. Jason has finally gone into steam blows which is great, another step closer to getting the hell out of here, but hes working more! I am working all the time too and I realized this week that we really need to get our shit together for Christmas because its around the corner and we will of course need to ship gifts! Not to mention I officially have no faith at all in the post office on account that Ive sent 2 parcels to Ontario two weeks ago today and neither of them have arrived.. I'm furious!

Anyways Jason and I knew that would be our only day and with both of us being under the weather we decided to just stay home and hang out.. everyone needs a day like that! So we got up and Jason made a wonderful breakfast and I got in the shower and decided to tackle cleaning the stove.. which seriously, no one should ever have to do. I'm hiring someone to clean that when we move because I'm not doing it.. its stupid.

So after awhile of sitting around I decided that I would head to Target, I wanted to get a few things and it was actually beautiful out on Sunday! Plus Target had a Starbucks and what is a day without Starbucks? Jason decided not to join me, as he was in football mode, totally decked out in his gear and planning on a brisket for dinner.

This is how Jason spent his day.. tea to start, with a honey spoon to sooth his sore throat.. however that didn't last long on account that Mom and Dad bought him a pretty great birthday present.

Now unfortunately dinner didn't turn out exactly like Jason had hoped! However it looked really good.. haha

See the thing is.. Jason was planning on making a beef brisket, unfortunately he bought a corned beef.. different cut of meat, different way of cooking it necessary.. either way it looked and smelled good which is half the battle.

Sunday night Bubba finally convinced Jason to download the walkie talkie app on his cell phone and this is how Jason spent his night! It warms my heart that the two of them miss each other so much but to listen to the two of them all night is a little much! haha

 

Last night I picked up Jason from work and we headed to Quizno's for dinner which I usually don't look forward to but it was excellent! Then we headed to Sportsman's warehouse to get Bubba's birthday gift and do a little looking around for Christmas. Mom had mentioned that Dad asked for a coffee percolator so I started taking pictures of a few I saw to see if that's what he was talking about... well Jason caught wind and had to be apart of things.. haha

 

 



 

How do you not love that face? I mean honestly, isn't he freaking cute!?

 

Before we left I managed to find Dad and Bubba's perfect Christmas tree.. Tell me they wouldn't love this!

So today was suppose to be my day off but unfortunately I had to work! It wasn't too bad this morning but I went to have lunch with Tammy and Imelda.. Imelda made an AMAZING Mexican lunch and driving back to work I wanted to go for a nap soooo bad!! Tonight I came home and made dinner, Jason got a ride home with Rob and came in with Bubba's long awaited birthday gift! I think he liked it...

 

Apparently he liked the gift.. haha as the gloves lay on the living room floor! He did however pick them up!

 

So back to work tomorrow, it was dead there this afternoon so I got a lot of things that I wanted to get done completed which was great. I don't expect much more for tomorrow so I plan to make some more slippers before I send them home to Mom!

 

I hope everyone is having a great week and staying warm! We are in for some snow tonight.. should be interesting! I just asked Jason to put my creepers on my boots!

 



SLIPPERS FOR SALE!

Hey guys... so as you all know Ive been crocheting slippers because.. well theres nothing else to do here. But I really have nothing to do with them so I thought I would sell them.. cheap just to at least get the money back for the yarn so I can make more!

So here are some pictures of ones that I have done! Ive been working on more and really it takes me no time at all to make a pair so if you had colors in mind and wanted me to make some I could definitely do so!

 

 

 

Thse ones are all for babies.. they take no time at all and I can do them in all different sizes.

 

 

 

That one is a child around the age of 3-4.. I dont think you can really tell the difference in size but its a little bigger.

 

 





These are some of the adult ones that I have done, I plan to work on more of those but Ive been doing kids ones because when I have little balls of yarn I can use them up!

So as you can tell I have a good variety! Im planning to send them home to mom after I make a few more pairs! Again let me know if anyone has any requests for colors!

Genius!

I just had to post this.. Barb you are a genius!! This little crocheting needle that you bought me is amazing! I swear I really didn't think that the comfy handle would make that much of a difference but it seriously does!! I can literally make one whole pair of slippers and my hands don't hurt at all, not my wrists or anything!! Thanks so much, I'm going to see if I can get some more in different sizes!! So clever!

 

Haha and if you're wondering if I ever use the gifts that you buy me, that is indeed the needle holder you sent me which is full of needles and under that is the couch blanket you bought us when we lived in Saskatchewan! haha

 

I plan to post some pictures of a bunch of the slippers I have made! I really want to sell them and don't really know anyone here so I think I'm going to send them all home to Mom to take to work or something! 

GOOD MORNING ALASKA!!!

Some things in life only happen here.. such as going to walk to work and having to hang up on your Dad to run back to your apartment and get your camera to take a picture of THIS...

 

Ya this bad boy was standing outside the apartment this morning when I went to walk to work! I couldn't believe the size of him!! I'm not going to lie this is always my fear.. running into a moose on the way to work. Generally I know they wont hurt you if you leave them alone.. plus you can usually walk right by them and they don't even look up! Well I called Carl our maintenance guy and he came over to see him and that gave me a safe walk to work! Anyways Carl said we could get closer to him and I hesitated as I always do... well we started walking towards him and he didn't like it.. haha! He put his head down and his ears went back and naturally we turned and walked the other way!

 

Not at bad start to the day let me tell you! He eventually left before we did.. I heard a bunch of cars honking so I assumed he went and crossed the major street and took off who knows where! Naturally I was a nervous wreck walking home tonight in the dark but I made it safe and sound!!

Back in Business

Finally I am going to fill you all in on the happenings!! I'm sorry its been so long since Ive made the effort to get on here and blog but its hard time find the time and Ive been sick and well blah blah its all excuses!

So what has been going on.. WELL.. Tom and Deanna are still assholes.. it only gets worse as the time goes on! The most recent is this one.. I flipped the calendar from October to November only to find this...

Apparently Tom and Deanna booked a vacation and neglected to tell anyone.. besides writing on the calendar that I was going to have to work my days off.. BULLSHIT! So I told her flat out that I wasn't working my days off! I'm sorry but I don't owe them anything and if they wanted me to work my days off while they were on vacation they should have given me enough notice so that I didn't already make plans. Plus I just really didn't want to work my day off, I don't even like working my regular days there on account that they are such assholes.

So the night they were leaving Deanna broke the fax machine and Tom came down after she left and made a big deal about how I obviously broke it! After going back and forth with him I was finally pissed and like "listen.. what is your malfunction? I didn't touch the damn thing.. FYI fax machines are a little before my time. Either fix it or leave me alone.. I'm sure as hell not going to lose sleep over it!" - douche bag! I swear they are so nasty about NOTHING!

I am going to work the 13th just because.. whatever.. I mean I still owe them a day from when mom and dad were here so I figure I might as well get it out of the way so I don't owe them anything. I'm sure as far as they are concerned I owe them my life and first born but they can go to hell.

They have been gone since Monday night and honestly its been great, I can handle things fine on my own and its just so much more pleasant! Besides the fact that Ive had a head cold I wouldn't change a thing!

Back tracking a little Jason's birthday was on November 4th which was a Sunday! So he woke up and opened presents.. haha he got some great stuff from Mom and Dad.. here is a picture of him deciding to use the wrapping paper as wall paper! haha.. got to love NFL.com!

Its a crappy picture but you get his enthusiasm! After presents we got ready and layered and headed down to Eklutna Lake! We knew it was going to be cold, but honestly it was so beautiful! I sent those pictures that night I believe via snapfish! That afternoon we went to TGI Fridays because Jason has researched appetizer menus and decided that there were the best TV, app, beer provider! Josh met us and we hung out for awhile and then headed home to curl up on the couch and watch a movie! Overall it was a great day!

We've been getting some crappy weather, not a lot of snow until today but miserable cold! So Jason has decided now that the really cold weather is here and Halloween is over its time to get into the swing of Christmas planning! Believe it or not I have actually started my shopping already!! We've been pricing out trees and all that good stuff too, Jason really wants to have one and set it up on Thanksgiving! I'm not going to lie I wasn't really feeling it, mostly we wish we could be home for Christmas this year with everyone but I also feel like its such a waste to buy all the stuff every year and the throw it all away! Last year we did keep a few things but you know how it goes.. we move around every year and we cant take a lot with us! Anyways we went to Walmart the other night and I finally found what would absolutely put me in the Christmas spirit.. my long lost friend...

Haha I lived for these bad boys last year! I'm not the biggest fan of Oreo's, we don't ever buy them but last year we LOVED the peppermint and Candy Cane ones.. We didn't buy them yet but just knowing they are out makes me so happy! That along with Starbucks holiday drinks!!! Who doesn't love a good Eggnog Latte... in fact who doesn't love eggnog anything???

So not much else has been going on I guess.. or not that I can remember right now. Unfortunately I'm at work and this has taken me forever to write because I keep getting interrupted!!

Its definitely getting into winter though.. dark all the time and cold! It gets dark about 9am now with the time change but it starts getting dark again around 3pm.. only to get worse too! MISERY! That's why I so greatly appreciate kind little thoughtful surprises like this one I recently received in the mail...

Thank you Cathy so much for thinking of me! I absolutely love the card as you are so right I didn't get to enjoy fall NEARLY enough.. and the moose is so cute.. looks like my neighbor.. no joke! Thank you so much for your kindness it is GREATLY appreciated!!

So that's us in a nutshell, tonight the weather is suppose to be super messy!! Its been snowing on and off all day and they are calling for freezing rain. Unfortunately we didn't go grocery shopping last night because we were at the Olive Garden later then expected.. ya before I sign off I should quickly tell you about out dining out experience.

Last night we went to the Olive Garden, Jason was so excited because we absolutely love the Olive Garden!! Well we had the worst experience ever.. so much so that I wrote and complained today! The girl who seated us was like a tour guided because she took us all around the whole restaurant and in between peoples seats.. it took us like 10 minutes to get to our table and the whole time we were saying "oh excuse me, excuse me, sorry, excuse me"... wtf! Then we get the worst seat in the place.. the one right beside the kitchen! It was chaotic!

Anyways Jason ordered a margarita, it took 25 minutes to get it.. so long that he had forgotten he ordered it! Then Jason upgraded his salad to a Cesar salad and that took over a half hour and they brought him a chicken Cesar and told him he would have to pay $6.50 for it because that was the only upgrade the offered.. huh? He always does that and its a $2.00 charge!!! Then our meal took forever and mine was cold and his was burnt!! It was honestly almost unbelievable! Not to mention people kept dropping glasses and breaking them, and the manager was running around like an evil dictator making people cry.. it was ridiculous! We love the Olive Garden and I understand this one is new and there will be some hiccups but there was nothing good about our meal!

So that's us in a nutshell I suppose, I have to be better about making time to get on here because I know there is stuff I wanted to talk about and now I just forget.. maybe I will start posting millions of little blogs and not such long ones.. haha

Anyways I hope everyone is having a great week, and has a great weekend! Jason and I are both working tomorrow and then Sunday I think we plan to have a lazy day and talk to the Great White Hunter.. my brother.. who shot 3 deer in two days at hunt camp.. wonder where he get his skills from.. HAHA!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to stop in really quickly and say that I know Ive been slacking but I'm dying of a head cold and every time I sit down to blog I have so much to tell and pictures to post and it all seems overwhelming to my oh so congested head so I just don't!
